Causes of heartburn
We have
often been victims of heartburn in the worst moments. It's annoying, painful
and constantly disruptive. In here, we invite you today to know more and know some
of the causes of heartburn are.
Heartburn
Heartburn is
a burning stomach that triggers intense heat and the terrible feeling that our
stomach is literally in flames. The burning occurs in the stomach and lower
chest area, periodically up our esophagus to the throat and neck. Its symptoms
are similar to those of a heart attack but it is important to know
differentiate and be aware that there is no relationship with the heart, just
an irritation of the esophagus caused by stomach acid occurs.
Through the
force of gravity, the lower esophageal sphincter, is the muscular valve that is
responsible for keeping stomach acid in the stomach and this is at the junction
between the stomach and esophagus. When functioning normally, the valve opens
to let food into the stomach or burping, but when there are irregularities in
it and the valve fails to close properly, the flow of stomach acid seeps into
the esophagus, causing heartburn. Heartburn is fairly common and we recover
soon, however, but in chronic cases it may indicate a risk and increased disease.
Causes of heartburn
Everything
happens in the lower esophageal sphincter valve, usually after a meal and this
is due to low activity or malfunction of the valve. There are two factors that
cause the majority of cases and they are:
Eating
demasiadoDemasiada pressure on the stomach.
Overeating
fills the stomach capacity by increasing the risk of leaving an opening in the
lower esophageal sphincter. Some foods promote certain valve opening as
tomatoes, garlic, citrus, onions, chocolate, coffee, alcohol, peppermint, etc.
Foods rich
in fats and oils, fried foods, meats and some vegetables, like some drugs, also
generally lead to heartburn. Therefore as always, we suggest consulting your
specialist to find out what specifically they can affect your body because it
does not affect us all the same things.
People with
obesity, poor diet and bad eating habits (overeating) are much more likely to
suffer these burning more easily, as well as pregnant by the pressure of the
baby into the stomach.
Other
factors to consider are the stress and smoking. Stress increases the production
of stomach acid and the chances of this to seep upwards while smoking stomach
acid also stimulates and relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter is being very
harmful heartburn.
