Studies have shown that sitting at the computer affects the health, makes us vulnerable to serious illness and can lead to death.
In Mexico, the current working day shifts ranging from 6 to 20 hours. During this time workers perform certain activities, in most cases, require a computer. And although highly recommended- -and you can take short breaks while working, for example, drinking water, toileting or lunch, it is more likely to adopt the same position as we spend long hours sitting at a computer.

Maybe your job requires you to use a computer all the time, but what about the weekends watching series and movies at home. And if you are someone who does not release mobile, surely you can be suffering neck text.
Time flies when we had fun and we dive into the virtual world; however, everything has a cost and, in this case, is what we are sacrificing our health. And, according to studies, there are four aspects of your health impact where more hours sitting at the computer: cancer, diabetes, heart disease and obesity.

Premature death
All know that a sedentary lifestyle can trigger a number of health problems such as those mentioned above, and can inevitably lead to death.
Physical inactivity represents the fourth factor of death worldwide.

The World Health Organization has reported that physical inactivity is the fourth risk factor for death. We also found that inactivity is the main cause of 25% of breast cancers and colon cancers, 27% of diabetes cases, and 30% of cases of heart disease.
Meanwhile, some articles published in Archives of Internal Medicine, show that there is a clear association between the act of sitting and the risk of contracting any disease. So, sitting more than eleven hours a day results in a 40% chance of dying from any cause at all, even when going to the gym or go for a walk, because prolonged sitting may be counteracting the effects of health of such training.

Cancer Risk
It seems that everything causes cancer these days: cell phones, microwaves, CAT scans and X-rays, even sitting.
The American Institute for Cancer Research conducted specific research findings which show that 49,000 cases of breast cancer and 43,000 cases of colon cancer in the United States could be linked to physical inactivity.
A daily 30-minute walk can help reduce the risk of cancer.
On the contrary, for many of the most common cancers, it seems that something as simple as a brisk walk for 30 minutes a day can help reduce the risk of cancer. This is thanks to that, through physical activity levels of C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation linked to cancer risk are reduced.

Diabetes and heart problems
Unfortunately, cancer is not the only serious disease associated with the fact spend much time sitting. The School of Public Health at Harvard found that there is a clear correlation between sitting in front of the TV or computer for two hours and risk factors for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The risk of heart disease may increase by 15%; and in the case of diabetes, the risk may be increased by up to 20%.
So, the greater the number of hours sitting at the computer, the greater the risk of diabetes or heart disease.

Obesity
Sitting at the computer affects the health
Many of the diseases mentioned above are also associated with obesity; obesity and lack of physical activity; and physical inactivity to spend much time sitting.
As we sit is more difficult than our body can burn the calories we eat-in fact, we are probably consuming more if we eat snacks at the time of labor so stored fat cannot properly processed and end up going directly to our stomach, forming those annoying "love handles."
Some things you can do to avoid this kind of suffering is to install tools to help you know when to take a break, try to avoid fried foods and drink at least two liters of water a day. The technology does not have to be our enemy, on the contrary, can become a good ally if we manage our time and to balance our activities.

The posture
The use of a computer for hours can have negative effects on your posture. If you're hunched over your keyboard, this can produce you a pain in the back. If you keep your head in the same position for a long time, you can develop muscle tension in your neck and shoulders, as well as headaches. According to Occupational Safety and Health Administration, poor posture while working at a computer for an extended amount of time can produce a musculoskeletal disorder (MSD). OSHA recommends sit in a neutral body position, or in a position that allows your joints to be well aligned to reduce the risk of developing MSD issues.

Myopia
According to a professor of optometry at Brisbane, Nathan Efron, keep your eyes on the computer screen for extended periods may increase the chances that you develop eye problems, especially if you are under 30. Young adults and children under 30 are still in the development stage of an eye. Stare for hours at a computer can cause myopia, or a condition in which distant objects may become blurred. If you care about the possibility of developing myopia when using your computer, try enlarge the text size on the screen. If you cannot, invest in a pair of glasses for computer or that can increase the text size on the screen. However, you should consult an optometrist before wearing glasses of any kind.

Vision syndrome Computer
If you use a computer for a long time within a period of 24 hours, you can start developing this syndrome. This can cause problems beyond what the computer, including blurred vision, eyestrain, dry eyes, eye pressure and sensitivity to light. According to Dr. Kent Daum, vice president of the University of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois, this occurs because the text of the computer screen is not as clear as you think it can be. Through overtime, your eyes start to press to read the text of the computer screen, producing the above symptoms.

Protection
If you must use a computer for long periods of time, take steps to protect your health. Be sure to take frequent breaks to stand, stretch and allow the blood to flow. Stretching combined with a neutral body position; reduce the risk of muscle aches. Remember blinking. It may sound obvious, but when you focus on a screen for a long time, actually blink less, which can cause fatigue, dry and pressure. Make sure the computer screen is positioned directly in front of you so that your eye is level. Your workplace should be well lit so that the screen is not the only source of light you have.
Spend many hours in front of a computer can cause the so-called "computer syndrome"
Ophthalmologists advice using artificial tears to the eye does not dry out and rest fifteen minutes every two hours
Nausea, dizziness, headaches, impaired vision, tearing and general fatigue are, if nothing else than warranted, some of the symptoms known as "computer syndrome". This disease afflicts young people who use the computer to study or play, and 70% of workers who spend much time at your computer. Recently, the College of Opticians of Galicia said that at present 80% of college-age young Spaniards suffer from this syndrome. The American Academy of Optometry, meanwhile, says that 33% of those suffering this disease will be affected by myopia in 2020. According to ophthalmologists, spend many hours working on the computer may result in decompensation of vision defects already they had before. "The eye is able to compensate for minor problems such as hyperopia, myopia mild or slight astigmatism. The computer generates no visual defects, but the triggers," explains Dr. Otegi, expert Gipuzkoa Eye Center.

Also the need for reading glasses, which usually occurs around age 45, early affects workers using the computer as a tool. Eye dryness is another problem derived from continuing use, and that stare at the screen "half that in normal conditions, and one of the functions of the blink is moisturize the eye blinks, so it is advisable to use artificial tears or used to blink, "said Otegi. It also recommends changing the gaze direction every half hour and work whenever possible with natural light. One more tip, especially for students: at night you should never work with your computer and the lights off, since "dry physiologically is even greater because the eye produces fewer tears."
Pedro Morera representing the Thea laboratories, which have been several studies on the ocular effects of computer work, confirms the thesis of Dr. Otegi. And also recommended artificial tears and rest fifteen minutes every two hours of work at a computer. "It is very important because the dryness can lead to serious problems like keratitis (corneal ulcers), the solution is very difficult." In addition, Morera indicates that Thea laboratory studies find that there is "a very high fogging between students and workers degree because the eye has to adapt to the requirement fixate on a nearby object for a long time."
These effects can be counteracted in part by using the display type less harmful to the eye. Traditional cathode ray flash and may cause discomfort to be milder with a plasma screen.

Sit properly
Back and neck pains are also a common ailment among those who sit for hours in front of the screen, says Dr. Bravo, a specialist in the emergency department. The cause of this pain is to be found both in the wrong way of sitting and using inadequate seats. "It is fatal to the neck screen is placed in position and the keyboard is not placed in parallel because it forces us to constantly move." The back should be straight, shoulders straight, and head relaxed.
But not only intense pain occurs in neck and back, but there are increasing complaints of discomfort in the wrist, probably due to incorrect use of the mouse and keyboard. The so-called "carpal tunnel syndrome" affecting more and more people working more than eight hours with the computer, but not all experts agree on establishing a direct relationship between this hassle and use of new technologies. Repeating for hours of improper hand position, however, can cause this problem that affects mostly women.

"It's very important to write about a wrist rest or with your hands on the table, never with hands raised above the keyboard for an extended wrist position is forced," says Bravo. When the wrist is extended the median nerve and press the "carpal tunnel syndrome" which is characterized by severe pain in hands and an unpleasant tingling occurs.
